Week of January 23, 2022

I look at this picture and I’m struck by the isolation of each tree depicted.  They stand alone, clearly buffeted by the wind, most likely attacked by livestock seeking their leaves, or rubbing against the rough bark.  They’re separated from each other.  They are on their own.

What about you?  Do you feel isolated?  Are you on your own, having no relationships that provide support and protection?  If that describes you, it should not.  In the church that’s a self-afflicted malady.  In contrast to this situation, here’s what the Scriptures say; Hebrews 10:24-25 ~

24 And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, 25 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.

If you find yourself being isolated, I challenge you to do something about it.  You don’t need to pray about it, you already know God’s will in this.  All you need to do is be obedient.  Be obedient to what He’s already revealed.

That may take on the form of joining a Life Group, or serving on one of the ministry teams.  It may be as simple as reaching out to someone and inviting them over for coffee.  The interesting thing about it is this, when you are obedient to what God tells you to do it becomes MUCH easier to pray.  Give it a try.
